We are delighted to welcome Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis to our next meeting! His activity in the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (EDA) aligns with this year's motto "Sail around the world" as it reflects his substantial involvement in international affairs and engagements.
Ignazio Cassis was born in Sessa (Ticino) and has headed the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs since his election to the Federal Council in 2017. He began his political career in 2004 in the Collina d'Oro legislature. A doctor of medicine, Cassis worked as a physician until 1996 and served as cantonal medical officer of the Canton of Ticino from 1997 to 2008. From 2008, he served on the boards of various health organisations and held teaching positions at several higher education institutions.
We are looking forward to getting to know more about the everyday life of a Federal Councillor and his views on current activities around the world.
