On the 17th of September 2019 a group of 12 people from the Rotaract Club Zurich had a guided tour at the FocusTerra exhibition at the ETH Zurich.
Firstly, we received a general introduction on how earthquakes develop, how to measure the intensity of an earthquake and what different waves there are in an earthquake. We also had a look at Switzerland: which regions have a higher risk of earthquakes and what would be the consequences if a heavy earthquake hit Zurich city.
After the theoretical introduction, we had a look at the current FocusTerra exhibition and had a look on how a seismograph works and which layers of the earth exist.
Lastly, we had the chance to experience the feeling of different earthquakes on different grounds, in different building heights and with different intensities.
All in all, it was a very insightful tour.
